Portrait of the sailing ship:

  • the motor galeasse "Karis" was sold to the shipowner Per Henriksen in 1974 and renamed "Talata".
  • the ship was rigged as a topsail schooner and once again used as cargo schooner
  • it was renamed "Mercantic II" in 1977
  • the ship was sold for tax reasons in San Francisco and renamed "Jaqueline" in 1985
  • when the sailboat was to be sold again in 1991, Peter Henriksen took advantage of his right of first refusal and brought the ship back to Denmark
  • After a general overhaul and refitting as a charter vessel, the ship's name was again changed to "Else Dorthea Bager" (Henriksen's mother's name).
  • the ship participated in Hanse Sail Rostock in 1993
  • bought in 1996 by Tuborg brewery and now used for promotional purposes (as a bottle opener is often called a madonna in slang due to its shape, the ship was called "Madonna")
