  • last frigate under sail served in the Portuguese Navy, served on the "India Run", a regular military route that linked Portugal to her former colony
  • built in the Damão shipyards, launched in 1843, towed to Goa and fitted out there
  • named "D. Fernando II e Glória" after the husband of the Queen Maria II of Portugal and as a tribute to "Our Lady of Glory", a figure of special devotion among the inhabitants of Goa
  • maiden voyage from Goa to Lisbon in 1845, used in various missions then until 1865, used as a sailing and stationary Naval Artillery School until 1938, reconstruction in 1889,
  • in 1963 a fire destroyed the ship nearly totally, rebuilt to become a museum's ship in the habour of Lisbon
