  • built in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania in 1885 to carry sand mined next to the mouth of the Delaware Bay to an iron foundry in Chester
  • first she was rigged as a sloop but for economic reasons she was re-rigged as a schooner in about 1895
  • was the first of only two cargo ships built of iron in this country, now she is the only iron-hulled American former merchant sailing vessel still in existance
  • fitted with an engine in 1930, when the owner changed and she was moved to Massachusetts, remove of her rigging
  • 1966-68 major rebuild of the hull and restore of the schooner rig
  • 1970 donated to the South Street Seaport Museum of New York
  • she sails with trainees and children and is available for charter
