  • the name "Florette" means as much as "little flower" and was chosen by the customer of the shipyard, a seaman from Viareggio, as commemoration to a lover, when he ordered the ship.
  • construction and building of the ship at the rich in tradition shipyard Fratelli Picchiotti, Toscana, ITA, as a wooden brigantine in 1921, an unusual feature of this construction, also known as a so-called Viareggina, is the long hull with a wide bow section and a narrower stern, commissioned in 1921/22.
  • 1921-1968 registered in Italy, homeported in Viareggio, Toscana, ITA, first owner and captain was Telaro Giovanni from Viareggio, used as sailing cargo-boat to transport marble.
  • 1936 fitted with a 50 hp auxiliary engine to help maneuvering in habours and to become more independent from weather and wind.
  • in WW II first used as ammunition freighter and patrol boat in Italy, short before the end of the war confiscated by the German and brought to Piombino, here the owner sank her to protect her from being destroyed in the war and prevent her use for the German.
  • after the war completely re-rigged, new painted and float off to use her for transporting food, among other to Malta.
  • 1955 converted from a brigantine to a schooner.
  • 1968 sold to new owner Fumian, who registered her at times in Italy, Malta and Panama, conversion to a charter ship, installation of cabins for passengers, fitted with a new engine.
  • sold for financial reasons to Jochen Eichler, Sailing School Elba, used as sailtraining ship under the Austrian flag for several years, registered in Vienna.
  • in 1978 the Englishman, engineer and captain Ron Haynes came on board to overhaul the ship, he took over the "Florette" and since then he organizes diving and recreation voyages with the ship in the Mediterranean in winter she lies in Malta, in summer she is based in Vibo Valentia Marina on the Italian coast for sailing trips in the southern Mediterranean, registered in London she flies the British flag today.
  • since 1999 rigged as a brigantine again.
  • basic restore of the hull in spring 2009 at a shipyard in Licata, Sicily, ITA.
