  • begin of her building was 1928, she was privately built at the shipyard of Joseph Bagley Oakland, CA by the brothers Charles & Chester Carter, they worked on her with great care, because of the World War II they couldn't finish the work, so she was launched unrigged first in 1943, registration in San Fransisco.
  • 1960 sold by Jesse Tiny Hembree to estate developer Johnson to be converted into a family yacht for Polynesian waters, the son Craig Johnsen completed her and brought her to Polynesia.
  • donated in the mid 1970s to the University of Irvine, instructional sailing ship for the University of Irvine.
  • several owners and many years later in 2004, TALOFA is privately owned by Cactus and Betsy Bryan after having been completely refitted and restored as an original yacht of her day, used for cruising and sail training in the Sea of Cortez and Gulf of California, USA.
  • name "Talofa" means "Welcome" in Samoan language.
