• built 1929 at the Amsterdamse Scheepswerf G. de Vries Lentsch Jr. in Amsterdam, NL; composite construction using steel frames with teak planks and decking.
• originally commissioned by a rich American, after launch acquired by Ruan Rietschoten, used by himself and his son Cornelius Rietschoten, famous for winning the Whitbread Round the World Boat Race 1977-78 and 1981-82.
• during WWII probably used by German officer Rommel for entertainment.
• 1950s change of the rigging from gaff rigg to a bermuda sail configuration.
• participation in the first tall-ships race between Torbay, UK and Lisbon, PO in July 1956.
• sailed mainly around the Mediterranean and in the 1970s regularly crossed the Atlantic between the West Indies and the Mediterranean, in the 1980s she also sailed through the Panama Canal and up the East coast of the USA to Canada.
• different changes of the owner, until an owner from UK purchased the ship in 1989, extensive restoration project done by the family taking many years.
• after sea trials in 2007 she started sailing trips on the East coast of Great Britain, through the Caledonian canal and West coast of Scotland, 2008 to Spain.
• took place in the 2009 Tall Ships Race in the Baltic.
• about the origin of the name "Maybe" is nothing known however there was a significant delay in the launch date of the vessel.
