  • Venezuelan navy training ship launched at the shipyard of Astilleros Celaya in Bilbao, Spain in 1979 and commissioned in 1980.
  • she makes a long training tour once a year.
  • participated in many main sailing meetings and regattas, e.g. the Puerto Rico-Bermuda-Halifax-Quebec race in 1984, the Sail Amsterdam 1985, and the 1986 New York Operation Sail.
  • she sailed around the world from 1987 to 1988 and participated in the Main Sail Parade in Sydney as well as the 1992 Columbus-Regatta.
  • 1995 winner of Americas' Sail golden trophy.
  • 2002-2008 major refit at the Diques y Astilleros Nacionales Compañía Anónima state shipyard in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela.
  • participated in the Velas Sudamerica 2010 together with 11 tall-ships to celebrate the bicentennial of the first national governments of Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile and Mexico.
  • February - June 2011 journey to Europe calling the Azores, Bremerhaven (GER), St. Petersburg (RUS) and Cadiz (ESP).
  • Simon Bolivar (1783-1830) was a South American freedom fighter and a national hero. He liberated Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia from Spanish colonial domination.
